We enjoyed the lovely room and building, especially the bathroom in room 4 with its whirlpool bath. The town was charming too, with a few shops and restaurants and a beautiful river view. The garden behind the house looked a bit neglected, though November may have played a part. Breakfast was disappointing. We were told it would be made to order from 8 to 9:30, but arriving at 8:45 got us mediocre scrambled eggs, a little sausage, and berries. Another guest came just before 9:30 and got no food. Before we arrived, staff only contacted us by text about entry and breakfast dietary needs, and the chef didn’t really accommodate those needs.

The house itself is lovely, and the staff I spoke with were cooperative. Germany, who made the eggs and bacon, was very nice and accommodating. Still, this didn’t feel like an actual inn or bed and breakfast. We were mostly on our own, and when we came back a little after 5:30, the place was dark and empty. I felt like I was in an Airbnb. We had to pour our own coffee and toast our own English muffins, too. We stayed in room 1, which had two single beds. The pillows were old and nearly flat, the beds squeaked all night, and the furniture was uncomfortable. There was just one tiny end table for both beds and no desk or other surface to put things on. The couches in the sitting room and upstairs lounge were uncomfortable as well. The house could use upgrades, refurbishment, and a good cleaning. We appreciated being able to drop off our bags early before an afternoon event. I’d been texted the entry code, so we left them there and returned in the early evening as planned. A walk down High Street gave us the impression of a nice community that may have passed its prime. We won’t be back or recommend Lily Inn B&B.

I’m having a hard time with this one, but it feels like a sign of the times. We booked the LILY INN on Christmas Eve for one night on the 26th because an unexpected guest was staying with us over Christmas and our guest room wasn’t ready. Two hours before check-in, Tyonna called to say their card machine was having trouble and couldn’t process American Express. She asked us to send $224.59 through Venmo and said the card wouldn’t be charged. But it was charged, and the person at the LILY INN also received the $224.59 on Venmo. American Express credited us, but the folks at the LILY INN still haven’t answered their attempts to contact them. Be careful. Unfortunately, this place doesn’t seem like the establishment it once was, and the whole thing came across as a disjointed hustle.

Breakfast was more than plentiful, and the woman preparing it was sweet and accommodating. We also liked being able to walk to good restaurants and the Delaware River. The house is full of history, and our room was comfortable with plenty of hot water in the shower. My husband and I had a great night at the Lily Inn and would gladly stay at The Lily Inn again.

We had a better than average stay at this neat little place in Burlington, NJ. It’s an older home, reasonably clean, with creaky floors and thin walls. Bristol Borough, where we had dinner, was about a 10-minute drive away. Street parking was possible, but the host pointed us to a spot behind the firehouse, about a two-minute walk. The details were vague, and I would’ve liked a TV in the room. There was one in a nice common room, though. The bed sat high enough that it took a step stool to get into, which could be tough for someone with limited mobility. My wife likes to sleep in, so we skipped the 8-9:30 breakfast.
