Days Inn by Wyndham Burns

We lasted about 10 minutes before leaving and losing $116.00. The room had no television, and the heater was a desktop unit. The dog was humping my leg, too. At check-in, he gave us keys to the wrong room and blamed me, even though the key packet said rm 117. He left the keys on the desk, then came back with the right set and receipt, turning on that ridiculous table heater even though the room should have been warm this time of year. You were so high at check-in. Don't blame us for your incapabilities. This is a dive, not a hotel, and absolutely not worth $116.00 a night when Best Western up the road is only $8.00 more.

The rooms, rates, and location were good, but the billing turned into a mess. I reserved six rooms for myself and friends while passing through Burns, Oregon last September, then canceled one a few days before arrival. At check-in the manager didn't want to recognize the cancellation, and the process became chaotic as more people arrived. The first couple got their room without trouble, and two guys seemed to get sorted out splitting the cost, but the manager became overwhelmed. We couldn't find him the next morning to check out. Later, our card statements showed everyone charged for their rooms, but two people had been charged twice and I was billed for four rooms. The manager asked me to have everyone call so he could resolve it, then told me he wouldn't fix the overcharges. When I asked why, he started yelling. I held my tongue and ended the call. My friends and I disputed the charges through our Visa card companies and got it resolved.

We had no other place we could afford, and already had a reservation after spending $400 to rent a car and drive five hours from Klamath Falls to Burns, plus another $80 for the room. Instead of listening while I tried to calm things down, the employee threatened us with a trespass warning and said he'd call the police. My partner had a medical panic attack in the parking lot, curled up in a fetal position. We had to turn around and drive the five hours back home in the dark, passing semi truck after semi truck. This was my first time inside a Days Inn and it'll be my last. I'm taking this up with corporate, we have an ADA claim open, and we'll contact Legal Aid. We'd come to Burns on December 3, 2025, after renting a car and driving from Klamath Falls for personal family business. Around 4 PM we stopped at the Days Inn to check in. The property felt unwelcoming, rundown, and shady. As soon as we entered, a big white dog jumped on the counter, startling my partner so badly he recoiled and yelled. It triggered his PTSD and anxiety disorder. A skinny man with glasses and long hair tied in a bun came out and said, "if you're afraid of dogs this isn't the hotel for you." The employee was immediately defensive and rude, and wouldn't let me speak. My partner tried to explain that he doesn't hate dogs, that the sudden jump had startled us, and that he was having a panic attack, but the employee brushed him off and kept interrupting. He talked over us and told us to find another hotel. When we explained we had no choice, he replied, "You always have a choice." That creep was rude and ableist. Your better off sleeping in your car than giving this rundown hole your money. To the creep behind the desk, you have no business working with people. You have zero people skills and you don't treat people that way. Your Dog Came at us, and instead of saying sorry, you belittled us.

For $100 a night, I expected a bit more. The front desk clerk was very helpful and check-in was easy. The mattress was decent and the pillows were good, but the room could use updating and a better clean, especially more frequent sweeping and mopping. The heating and AC setup wasn't ideal: a switch labeled with Sharpie had AC on top and Heat on the bottom, with no way to turn the system fully off. AC was too cold, while the heat was too hot to sleep with. The fridge froze the small amount of food we put inside.
