SpringHill Suites by Marriott Chicago Southwest at Burr Ridge/Hinsdale

Breakfast was good and made up for some of the rest. The hotel wasn't bad, and staff let me switch rooms when the heat in my first one gave me trouble. Still, it was just okay and didn't meet my expectations. I know it's an older property, but compared with hotels in Texas, it needs a lot of renovation.

We were in town for our daughter's volleyball tournament at Saw Mill Sports Hub and had a couple of hours to kill before it started. I called to ask if we could check in early, and Sara (with and H) said it shouldn't be a problem. When we arrived, she greeted us with the same positive personality she'd had on the phone. The hotel was well maintained from the lot to the rooms, and breakfast had a good selection. My family and I stayed last weekend, Jan 31st-Feb 1st. Thanks to Marriot, and especially Sarah, for making the experience more enjoyable!

The rooms were spacious, with a small kitchen area, mini fridge, and coffee machine. Breakfast had good options for nonvegetarians, while the vegetarian menu stayed the same each day. Housekeeping was a real problem during our six-day stay. Nobody changed the sheets or towels, emptied the bins, or cleaned the carpet. We had to call every other day for help, and explaining what we needed was harder because the housekeeping staff didn't understand English. It got chaotic. I was taking online exams and could hear housekeeping staff talking loudly in the lobby.

The front desk people were nice, and breakfast was good, but the rest fell short of what I expect from a Marriott. There were stains all over the couch and on the bed frame cover, and the shower ceiling was badly painted. The shower head leaked, and the windows were so smudged it was hard to see outside. The TV was awkwardly placed between the bed and couch, with a wall dividing the space. The elevators were rickety too. I've stayed in cheaper hotels that were better.
