We only wanted to rebook the same room at a lower price after my husband found it online. When he called, the hotel refused to cancel the original reservation, despite a recorded call confirming he could cancel up to 48 hours before arrival. They claimed he hadn’t booked by phone and that the room was non-refundable. We sent the recording to rewards customer care. The Super 8 manager called me as soon as he learned we’d contacted customer care. He yelled about the calls being recorded, said he had cancelled the reservation, but wouldn’t say whether he had refunded us. He said he didn’t care about my money, accused me of lying about booking by phone, and threatened that checking in at his hotel would be trespassing. We had never complained about the hotel before this. We simply wanted the lower price, which seemed like a reasonable request, but he never discussed a way to resolve it and literally yelled at me.
