The Inn At Holiday Valley

We especially enjoyed the pool, hot tub, and sauna after a day on the slopes, and breakfast each morning was delicious. A big thank you to the woman working at the bar, who was incredibly friendly and welcoming and made our evenings nicer. We had a wonderful, relaxing stay at the Inn at Holiday Valley. From arrival, the atmosphere felt warm and inviting, like a home away from home. We'd absolutely recommend it as a cozy, family-friendly place to stay.

The parking lot had very little space, the pool had leaves around its edge, and there were no dining options nearby unless you crossed the street or went up to the main lodge. We’ll stay at the Tamarack Club next time. It has more amenities, plus a lower-level ski check so you don’t have to haul your skis back and forth to your room. We came back nearly 30 years after our last visit because the website said the place had been newly refurbished. That wasn’t our experience. We booked a lift-view, ski-in/ski-out room but got one on the second floor, which meant carrying skis and poles up and down icy cement stairs. It was especially hard in ski boots, and our kids struggled too. The room was very dated and had no modern USB ports, which would’ve helped with charging our heated gloves and socks. We had seven people in two rooms for two nights. On the first night, the bathtub in one room filled up because the drain was clogged, and neither room had hot water. We told the front desk, but they said the pilot was out and it would take a while to come back on. It was already 10 p.m. The drain was unclogged the next day, but on the second night we again had no hot water, and staff couldn’t fix it. They gave us a 10% discount, but the hassle and lack of a hot shower after a cold day weren’t worth it. Some other reviews make it seem like this is a known problem they ignore.

The room was even nicer than I expected, and it was spotlessly clean. The beds and pillows were super comfortable, and the shower was great. Check-in was quick and easy, too. We had a little patio with chairs and a beautiful view, and the place felt cozy, relaxing, and safe. I can’t wait to come back!

A leak from the ceiling in our room has made the stay even more uncomfortable, and the marijuana smell in the building has grown worse since we checked in. It’s overwhelming and doesn’t feel appropriate for a family-friendly place. We’re at the Holiday Valley Inn for a ski trip, but this has been disappointing and has taken away from what should’ve been an enjoyable ski weekend. Given the location and reputation, we expected better. I hope management fixes these issues promptly for future guests.
