Motel 6 Butte, MT - Historic City Center

The staff were accommodating when we slept past checkout, and the bed was clean and fairly comfortable. The area wasn't bad either, with some cute shops and pubs nearby. But the room wasn't very clean. The floors were really dirty, especially in the bathroom, which was the grossest part. There was hair in the tub and sink, and when I finally had to shower, the tub wouldn't drain. It took hours. I was ultimately disappointed, though you get what you pay for.

Pets are welcome, with several spots for dogs to do their business and shared areas for smokers. There's secure, walled-in interior parking, so it feels easy to relax at this cozy, quiet, comfortable little hotel in charming uptown Butte. The views take in Butte's extensive mining infrastructure. Staff are warm, attentive, and committed to helping. With the great rates, you'll wonder why you stayed elsewhere.

The staff were all very accommodating, and the rooms were clean and large enough. There's only a small area for walking dogs, though there is a bit of grass in the back corner. I'd definitely stay again.

In December 2025, after our car broke down on I-90, I checked into Motel 6 on N Wyoming St in Uptown Butte, exhausted and just needing a safe place to sleep. I soon found what looked like a bed bug on the bedding, took a photo, and reported it to the front desk right away. I'll call it Terrence. At first, staff said they'd move us and were waiting for a manager. Once the manager got involved, that changed: we were told we'd brought the bed bugs, couldn't move rooms, and should stay where we were. They said this came from the owner. We did eventually get a refund, and I appreciate that, but only after a call to corporate. What disappointed me was being blamed and left in the room after reporting a bed bug. That didn't feel like a response focused on guest safety or containment. Staff also said the room had been deep cleaned and vacant for about two months. Yet the floor felt sticky and there was visible spatter on the walls, as shown in my photos. Seeing that after what we'd been told made it harder to trust how the report was handled. I'm sharing this so other travelers can make an informed choice. If you stay, check the mattress seams and headboard right away, and keep your luggage off the bed.
