Days Inn by Wyndham Caddo Valley Arkadelphia

The room had a smell we first thought was smoke, even though it was a non-smoking room. The fridge was shorting out and wouldn't keep cool, so we unplugged it for safety. The cabinet underneath looked water damaged from defrosting, which made us think the odor might be mildew. We also found two flies and a cockroach, brown grime by the toilet that looked like water damage, a remote with no batteries, and a sink that wouldn't drain unless we pulled the stopper up by hand. Outside the room, the desk was left empty at all hours unless you pressed a button, a minor issue. The door to it was broken. Signs pointed to vending and ice machines that weren't there, and the advertised free breakfast wasn't available during the posted hours. It had been there on our last stay, maybe 2-3 years ago. The pool was in disrepair, wet only from rain, and the parking lot wasn't maintained. There were other small problems too. The location was accessible, but you should avoid going there. We knew we weren't paying for a resort or even a three-star stay, and our choices were limited because we had two dogs and couldn't find a sitter. We'd stayed before and used to come often, but it has gotten worse each time. This was the worst hotel experience we've had.

The place was very clearly under construction, and the pool was unavailable. The floors were dirty, with a toothpick, broken plastic, and change on them. There were no towels or soap. Bolts were in one drawer, and another held a broken alarm clock and a hairpin. The tub still had soap and hair in it. When I turned on the bathroom sink, it leaked and water poured onto the floor. The AC made loud noises, the lamp shades were broken, and around 8am the power went off a couple of times, making the microwave beep and the TV turn on.

The lights barely worked, so I had to use my phone flashlight to get around. The bathtub was clogged and completely unusable, and reporting it to the front desk didn't lead to any fix. I booked two nights, but after checking in I had to cancel and book another room for the following night. Hotels.com's automated support wasn't helpful when I contacted them. I'm very disappointed by the stay and the lack of a resolution.

The people here are friendly and helpful, which made my out-of-state stay easy and affordable.
