Economy Inn Cadillac MI by Hotel O

The owners were friendly, and I had no complaints. The room was clean and quiet, with a microwave, a fridge and freezer, and a good-sized TV. The bed was cozy, the AC worked fine, and the hot water only took a minute or two to come through. It was nicer than I expected, and I'd return without hesitation.

Snow and ice hadn't been cleared from the parking lot or walkways, and the stairs felt treacherous. They also charged an extra $30 a night for my 10-pound dog.

We'd barely been inside for five minutes when we spotted one dead roach on the floor and two more running across it. The man at the front desk only said flies come in from outside. After that, plus a quick Google search, trusting your instincts seems wise. We were scared to stay in the room and angry that we might not get our money back from the third party that talked us into this place. The place is run-down and reeks. The hard floors hadn't even been swept, there were pubic hairs on the bed, and the grey cloth chairs had huge black stains. The bathroom was gross, and the toilet seat was coming loose. Even that seat seemed to be trying to get away. With such harsh lighting, there's no excuse for missing how filthy the room was or skipping basic cleaning. I wouldn't stay here even if it were the only place to book within two hours.

For a good night's sleep, whether it's just overnight or a longer visit, this place is perfect. The rooms are very clean, even if they don't have all the extras you'd get at a bigger chain hotel. The owners are really nice, and Janice "Jenny" was especially accommodating. We'll return if we're in the area.
