Best Western California City Inn & Suites

The staff were really nice, and the hotel was clean with a good breakfast. It’s a bit of a drive to the center, where the food stores and restaurants are, so you’ll need a car. It costs a little much, but there aren’t many other options in Cal City. Still, a good place to stay.

The staff are consistently kind and easy to deal with, which makes this a pleasant place to stay. I’m here a few weeks each year for work at the nearby Borax mine.

The rooms are comfortable and quiet, and the amenities work well. The lobby, rooms, and grounds are clean, and the prices are fair. Check-in is handled by nice, efficient people. I stay here once a year, and it feels like a real oasis in the desert every time. 10/10, already looking forward to coming back.

The prices feel way too high, and I had a frustrating time trying to use two gift cards for a recent stay. I couldn’t get into my rewards account, so customer service said they’d tell the tech team and call me back. I explained the cards would expire in a few days and that I needed them for the stay, but nobody called. When I followed up, I had to go through the whole story again. I still couldn’t log in, and the cards were about to expire. They promised to send replacement cards for the same amounts, but I never got them. Months later I still can’t access my account, after waiting and playing phone tag.
