The food was just okay, especially next to how good the rest of the stay was, so I might eat elsewhere next time. I was there for a corporate retreat and stayed in a Pool House King room, which was clean, comfortable, and carefully designed. The property felt peaceful and beautiful, with room to relax and do team activities. The staff were so welcoming and attentive. I had a great time and would come back.

I cancelled my Callicoon Hills reservation after an unexplained $198 charge appeared a week ago, despite the payment schedule Expedia had given me. Expedia and I tried to find out what happened, but couldn’t get a resolution with the hotel. It’s been a terrible experience, with no customer service. They don’t answer the phone, and the email addresses are wrong, so messages sent through Expedia can’t be delivered. I’m planning to dispute the charge with my credit card company.

Getting to larger towns or restaurants takes 15 minutes or more, since Callicoon Hills is tucked away in the Catskills. There is a restaurant on site, but I couldn’t try it because of the winter hours, Thursday through Sunday. I’d like to bring my family back to enjoy the whole place. The grounds were well kept, with lawn games and plenty of shared space for families and groups. Staff were friendly and helpful. Thanks to Kimberly and Heather for sorting out the clogged tub and sink soon after I checked in, and for setting up the fire pit so I could have s’mores under the stars. As a solo traveler, I found it a quiet retreat. The gym had most of the basics for a workout before the two barrel saunas, though it could use some tidying and attention to detail.

Even over Labor Day weekend, the large property felt peaceful and uncrowded, surrounded by nature despite how busy it was. The staff were kind and attentive, and it felt like they really cared about their guests. The food was delicious, and the s’mores were a fun touch. I loved my stay and didn’t want to leave. I’ll definitely come back.

The Conover Club was great, and we had a really good dinner there. What stood out most, though, was the staff. Everyone we met seemed glad to be there and ready to help. My wife and I spent a week at Callicoon Hills in a Tree House room, and we had an amazing time. The grounds were very well maintained, and the resort felt modern and comfortable while still keeping its natural feel. It was quiet and serene, apart from Saturday, which was to be expected. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the toiletries were very nice. The shower was a bit lacking, but good enough. There are no drawers, though there is a large closet, so for a longer visit a hanging clothes organizer might come in handy. We’ll be back.
