Room 233 on 2/3/26 had no shampoo or conditioner, and there was a used washcloth left in the shower. Pretty gross. When I mentioned it at the desk, I only got a quick “okay, I’ll let them know.” For what we paid, a partial refund would’ve been fair since I couldn’t even shower. I expected better. The TV setup needs work too: the screen was too small to see from bed, cable was awful, and figuring out the channels was confusing. The handwritten instructions felt lazy. It’d be nice to have Netflix or another streaming option.

The room was clean and really nice, and the hotel had a fun, busy feel with youth hockey families and snowmobilers around. We could walk to both downtown and the hockey rink. We’d stay here again on another trip to Calumet.

We spent Christmas here, and everyone made us feel at home. Breakfast and the service were outstanding, and we’d definitely come back. One disappointment: the pool and hot tub were closed, and nobody had let us know. That wasn’t the hotel’s fault, but booking.com never replied when we contacted them, and offered no discount. We’d booked specifically to use the hot tub after five days of snowmobiling. For future stays, I’d book with the hotel directly instead of using an agency.

The pool, sauna, and hot tub were great, and the room was clean. There’s a grocery store and pizza place right next door, which makes the location convenient. Mount Bohemia is about 40 minutes away, so it worked well for our trip. It’s the kind of remote northern hotel you’d expect, and it did what we needed.

We got there about six hours after leaving home, well before check-in, but the staff at AmericInn found us a room right away. Everyone was personable and accommodating, with five-star service all around. It’s also a handy snowmobiling base: the hotel sits right on the trail, and there’s plenty of room to park a truck, trailer, and sleds.
