The room felt fresh and clean, with new linens and a remodeled kitchenette and bathroom. I came in through the side entrance, which was well lit, and both the AM and PM front desk staff were kind and professional. The price was right, too. I had an amazing one-night stay, and Woodsprings Suites will be my first search next time I travel. Thanks, WS in Topeka, KS, you were wonderful!

If I need an inexpensive place to stay by myself in Topeka again, I’d book here. There’s plenty of food and shopping just a few blocks away, and the room had what I needed: a bed, a hot shower, and somewhere to cook. It’s an extended-stay place, and it feels that way. There’s no breakfast, the office isn’t open 24/7, and some spots are smoky. I didn’t see the roaches other reviewers mentioned. The room was clean enough, though a bit old, not disgusting. After reading other reviews I was worried, but it wasn’t horrible. Don’t expect bells and whistles; it’s cheap, and you get what you pay for.

The location is perfect, close to whatever you might need, including a Goodwill where you could buy a cheap pot or pan. Staff were friendly and helpful, though it would be better to have cooking ware available. I understand those items can be hard to keep accessible and clean. But after a few weeks here, I saw a very different side of management. When my shower stopped working, the after-hours number got me a key to a room across the hall. That room hadn’t been cleaned after the previous guests. Maintenance came the next day and said it was the regulator and they’d return the following day. By day four, we still had no shower. My husband drives OTR and had been away for weeks; he came home and couldn’t shower either. I went to the office that morning to ask about the repair, but the manager on duty, on 01/21/2026 at 11:00 AM, repeatedly interrupted me and said the plumber would come that day and I should stay in my room. I asked for a call before the plumber came because I’m Muslim and need to cover before a man enters my room. He asked, “COVER WHAT,” even though I was fully covered. I explained that I need to cover everything except my hands and face. He said the plumber had two other things to do first, then would come up, and told me to “JUST STAY COVERED.” I said I don’t want to stay covered all day at home, where I wear regular clothes, and asked him to take my number and call first. He insisted, “HES GONNA KNOCK FIRST.” I tried to explain that a call would only take a second, but he kept repeating that he would knock. I finally started crying and pleaded with him, saying it’s my religion to be fully covered before men. He cut me off again and said, “HES GOING TO KNOCK.” I was visibly upset, and two other female staff members stood watching while the manager mocked my religion and my choice to cover. When my husband went to address it, the manager told him he had said someone would call me, which wasn’t true. He said he’d refund our money if we had a problem and that we could “GET OUT OF HERE!” I’ve never had a manager treat me like this. As a Muslim woman, I’ve only had positive experiences with men in management before. I’m writing this in tears, sitting fully covered in my room while my husband has to leave for work. I only wanted him to have a hot shower. I’m sick, and I pray nobody else is treated this badly. Ameen 🤲🏻

We were exhausted after working all day and having to spend another night in Topeka, so we stayed even though the room was filthy. There was hair in the sink as soon as we walked in, and the walls were marked with dirt and grime. We should have left then. The next morning, I started itching and found that both my sister and I were covered in bed bug bites. Neither of us had ever experienced that before, and it’s been awful. Getting into the place after hours was a problem, too. The front office was locked and nobody answered the number listed for after-hours calls, even after we tried for 15 minutes. I eventually called the number on their website, reached someone, and they contacted the hotel so someone would meet us at the desk. When we tried to check out the next morning, the office was locked again, so we left without returning the room key. Don’t stay here. I regret giving it even one star; it’s cheap for a reason.
