Swiss Motel

We were pleasantly surprised by the Swiss motel. The staff were friendly, the room was clean, and the bed was actually pretty comfortable. We got a room with two double beds, which worked out great. We spent more for less at another motel in Riverhead last year, so the value here is hard to beat. My husband and I were here for a three-day weekend, and we'll be back next year.

It's a motel, sure, but one of the better ones I've stayed in. Our room was on the ground floor at the end. The hard vinyl floors mean no worries about bugs, and the mattress had a sanitary cover with clean sheets. The kitchenette with a fridge, microwave, and sink was a nice bonus. The furniture is older, but that's what you'd expect at a motel. The shower pressure was so strong it made a mess of the bathroom, though keeping the water at its lowest setting fixed that. I'm not out this way much, but if I come back East, I'd consider it as a budget option.

For a cheaper place in the middle of overpriced Long Island, this is great. The hardwood floors, comfortable bed, and decent bathroom and shower were all good for the price. It's a small spot tucked away from the main road, so it doesn't feel like you're in some Ghetto. The value can't be beat, and I'd stay again.

I became very ill before my planned stay and was still in the morning of my four-day grace period, but the manager refused to refund my $125 deposit cancellation fee. He was argumentative and rude. I've worked in Hospitality for 25 years and always tried to help a Guest when possible. With Covid going around and how obvious it was that I was ill, his lack of compassion felt heartless. Stay away from this business!
