Chef Tom stopped by after dinner, which was a really nice touch. We were celebrating our 10th anniversary, and the whole evening felt unexpectedly special. They took our coats, let us choose a quiet table by the fireplace in a little dining room, and never made us feel hurried between courses. The food was beautiful and, more importantly, some of the freshest and tastiest we’ve had in Maine since moving here a few years ago. Usually you don’t get both. We can’t believe we waited so long to try Hartstone. We’ll definitely be back.

The lobster, pork chop, fried milk, and pancetta were all great. We’ve traveled a lot, and Hartsone is right up there with our favorites. Dinner was so good we asked to thank the chef and sous chef in person. Claudia, Stevie, and Tom were friendly, helpful, and efficient. Book a table!

The inn is nicely placed, and the main house seems lovely. Breakfast was good, with sunny tables and kind wait staff. I did miss having a proper indoor common area beyond the small bar, and there weren’t any afternoon cookies or similar treats. We stayed in the Arbor Suite, which is in a separate building. It felt oddly attached to another home where people seemed to live, and unlike the rooms shown in photos of the main inn, it didn’t appear updated. The room itself was spacious, with a comfortable king bed, a couch, Roku TV, and gas fireplace. It was clean, though we noticed rust on the baseboards and a general lack of upkeep. The bathroom was cramped, and the shower and jacuzzi looked dated and uninviting. Heating and cooling were uneven. The inn may still be a good choice, but I wouldn’t recommend the Arbor Suite.

We got a one-night stay with a four-course dinner, and each dish came with a wine chosen to go with it. Steve looked after us wonderfully, and his wine picks really added to the meal. Chef Tom made a dinner that surpassed what we expected. The rooms have a great atmosphere, and the inn is right in central Camden. We had a perfect time staying and dining here, and are already looking forward to coming back.

We booked Thanksgiving dinner here but didn’t stay at the Inn. It was a huge letdown. There was no mashed potato or gravy, which shocked us and the other diners around us. The sides that came with the turkey didn’t fit a traditional Thanksgiving meal and were actually inedible. At $80 per person, it felt like a ripoff. People at nearby tables were just as disappointed, and we ended up laughing together about how awful the meal was. It didn’t come close to what anyone expected from a Thanksgiving tradition. The owner should be ashamed to charge people for this. Stay away.
