Motel 6 Cameron Mo

I just wanted an inexpensive, decent place to sleep before driving home. The first room smelled strongly of sour milk and feces, and had an ozone machine running, so I went straight to the desk and asked to move. In the room next door, the inside door lock looked taken apart, with no security latch, and the shower head was broken with no way to turn the shower on. I could put up with the shower, but that lock didn’t seem safe for guests. It was right off the highway, though very close to truck parking. Next time I’ll pay extra for Red Roof Inn, because I’m sure there’ll be a next time.

Traveling alone with my dog, I usually like staying at Motels 6 because they welcome pets and I’ve had good experiences with the business. This location was awful. I didn’t realize my room had no working deadbolt, and as a woman on my own I would’ve liked to know before checking in so I could choose somewhere else and feel safer. The room was a smoking room, but that wasn’t worth the risk. I’d already unloaded the car and gotten food, then had to leave and go to SureStay next door. It was cheaper and much cleaner. I was disappointed with the service and wouldn’t recommend this location for a safe rest on the road. It needs renovations.

The room was clean, but the hard mattress and pillows made it uncomfortable. Even though ours was non-smoking, being next to a chain smoker still gave us allergy trouble. Getting into the parking area from the highway was awkward, and there’s very little room to maneuver, so a warning to anyone with a large vehicle. It felt a bit better than tent camping, minus the nice outdoors.

I spent four nights here and had no complaints. The room was nice and reasonably priced, and the owners work on site. They were friendly and did a good job.
