Quality Inn Cameron

We booked more than a week ahead and got a confirmation code, but they didn’t honor our room for the four days. Since a Trail Ride Event was in town, they sold it to someone who offered more.

The front desk guy was friendly and professional. Room 118 had a sour, mildew-like smell, and there was a lot of street noise.

We were in a back room upstairs, and it was very quiet. A few things bothered me: there was light shining into the room all night, and a train came through a few times overnight or in the morning. I use earplugs, so the train wasn’t a real issue, and the lighting also made me feel safer. There were a few critters in the room on the first night, but being out in the country, that was sort of expected. We didn’t try the breakfast, so I can’t say what they serve. Housekeeping came two or three times over our eight-night stay, which was enough for us. The website says there’s a washer and dryer, but they don’t actually have laundry facilities. There’s a laundromat about a quarter mile away. The hotel was clean, and everyone we dealt with was friendly and professional. I was pleasantly surprised and plan to stay here again on future visits.

During the week I stayed, housekeeping only came once. I understand not changing towels and sheets every day, but they could at least have emptied the trash and replenished the coffee. There wasn’t a hair dryer either, which is a first for me in 20 years of hotel stays. I had to go to work with wet hair. I’m very disappointed and hope I don’t have to stay here again.
