We’re between homes during a military PCS, so I needed the kitchenette and ended up scrubbing the whole room on the first day. Housekeeping clearly hadn’t: the floor dirt stained my socks, the toilet was filthy, and the tops of the cabinets were grimy. We brought our own sheets because the provided ones felt like sandpaper. When my husband asked what to do with them, we were told to leave them outside for housekeeping. Then someone knocked and told me to take them downstairs while my baby was crying and I was working. Some front desk workers are amazing, but others don’t communicate. They also don’t answer when you call the desk. The location is close to work and the price is great, but I miss having a clean home and wish there were better options nearby.

The front desk staff were superb, friendly, and helpful, and there are plenty of washers and dryers. I stayed for two weeks. The hotel is near the air base and a couple of government buildings, with lots of parking, and the area seemed fairly safe. The rooms are okay but outdated, a bit dirty, and have a roach problem. There are no utensils, pots, or pans unless you pay extra, and extra towels or linen also cost more, or you have to wash them yourself. Staff don’t clean the rooms during a stay unless it’s 14 days or longer. There aren’t irons or ironing boards in the rooms. You can borrow one by leaving your ID at the front desk.

When I checked out, I was told my security deposit would be returned, but it never came. Staff later said they kept it because I supposedly missed a day, which is false. I have receipts showing I paid for every day of my stay. I explained and showed proof, but still haven’t received the deposit. It feels dishonest and is extremely unprofessional. Guests shouldn’t have to fight to get their own money back. I wouldn’t recommend staying here. If you do, keep every receipt and record.

My extended stay began on October 3, 2025, and quickly became frightening. My unit had live roaches from the first day. The then-General Manager, Mr. Frink, said he had seen them, gave me roach spray, and told me to use it if needed instead of arranging professional pest control. Toxic borax powder was spread in hallways and around doors, putting guests and pets at risk. Roaches crawled on us while we slept, got into the food area and even into sealed belongings. My registered service animal became violently ill after exposure to the chemicals, and lab results confirmed poisoning consistent with pesticide exposure. Despite repeated reports, there was no real cleanup or offer to move us. When Ms. Martin took over management, she told me, “if you move, the roaches will just move with you.” I also witnessed discrimination and ADA violations, including mocking my disability and my service animal’s tasks. I was locked out of my room and told to pay $400 immediately or leave, even though I’d already provided the required service animal documentation. Management recorded a private conversation about my disability without my consent. I believe this violated Maryland’s two-party consent law and federal privacy protections. Several aggressive pit bull-type dogs live on site, including one directly across from my room. One lunged at both housekeeping staff and my son. I consider this unsafe and a violation of Prince George’s County’s ban on owning or harboring pit bulls. My son was also asked if he wanted to buy drugs as he returned from work and entered the hotel. People openly dealt drugs and loitered in the parking lot at night, exchanging items and cash in view of guests, with no staff intervention. Security seemed nonexistent and management appeared to ignore it. The common areas were neglected, the elevator smelled strongly of urine, and people slept in the stairwells. I filed formal complaints with Choice Hotels and Sandpiper, the management company, but no one responded. With the pests, chemical exposure, discrimination, hostile management, drug activity, and other unsafe conditions, I believe the property is dangerous for guests and the surrounding community. All this happened under local and regional management, and nothing has changed. I urge people to stay elsewhere, and believe the property should be investigated, shut down, or fully remediated before anyone else goes through what my family and I did.

To the owner: I don’t book a hotel to sleep with roaches. Fix your business practices and take care of the property. I don’t care about your nonrefundable policy when you don’t look after it. I’ll be sending the evidence I posted below to my card company too. I spent two weeks there watching a friend who’d already been at the property for three weeks while he recovered from surgery and an incision. For about 40% to 50% of the stay, I found roaches of all sizes every day, often three in a day. I took pictures and documented them with geotags. I went downstairs and talked to an associate, described as a short Hispanic chick, who said, “everybody’s dealing with roaches here.” They offered to spray the unit instead of moving us to another room. I didn’t want chemicals on my belongings or to breathe them in. I contacted Choice Hotels, but they stonewalled me, transferred me to someone else, then said that was as high as I could escalate it. They offered only one day’s refund out of the two weeks I paid for on my friend’s behalf. They said the location isn’t owned by Choice Hotels, but privately owned by someone who doesn’t care. Tighten up, or the Lord will make you.
