There was old food on the floor behind the curtain, and the shower was dirty, with hair that wasn’t from the head. When we first entered the room, it smelled musty and felt hot because the AC was off. The door wouldn’t latch shut. We reported it the next morning, but the staff said no maintenance people were available and no replacement room was offered. She said she’d keep an eye on our room so nothing would get stolen. Later, I noticed several rooms open with fans running, which could explain the musty smell in the building. I’m very sensitive to mold and left with a horrible migraine. We stayed here two years ago while visiting family and had a wonderful experience, but this time was very different. The staff were friendly, but not helpful. Given all the problems, I feel a refund should have been offered. Instead, I only got an apology and a promise to share my concerns with the manager. The other hotel in town costs double, and I’d gladly pay that extra to avoid going through this again. We’ll never stay here again.

The breakfast might work if you like waffles, but the rest wasn’t great. The only protein was sausage patties that tasted microwaved and gravy. The hash browns tasted freezer burned and were so gross I had to spit mine out. We ended up going out for edible food for everyone, even though the breakfast was free. We stayed one night on the way to a funeral. It wasn’t the worst place we’ve stayed, but it wasn’t nice either, just very middling, maybe what you get from a two-star hotel in a small town. The rooms weren’t filthy, but I wouldn’t call them clean. The paint touch-ups didn’t match, and old mounting holes in the walls were patched badly and easy to see. There was rust and mold on the bathroom shower ceiling, and the cracked tiles shifted underfoot. The AC worked well but made an awful noise whenever it kicked on. The pillows were tiny, like they belonged in a baby’s crib, and were the worst I’ve ever had for resting my head. Any one of these things might be par for the course on its own, but all together I wouldn’t recommend the place to anyone I liked. I guess it beats sleeping in the car.

It was quiet and everything was okay. Since it was the off-season there weren’t many guests. The people were great, and the place had a great atmosphere and personality. The food was good, and everything was clean and neat. My one suggestion is to replace the mattresses. They’ve sunk so much in the middle that the springs don’t support you anymore, and you end up rolling toward the middle.

The staff were lovely, and the rooms were very clean. Everything was great.
