Super 8 by Wyndham Canandaigua

The place was disgusting. There were cockroaches, the bed felt damp and smelled odd, and the paint was peeling with cracks in the walls. We spent over $300 on rooms and wound up going next door to the Holiday Inn. Don’t stay here.

The ad promised continental breakfast, but all they had was coffee. There were no-smoking signs everywhere, yet the place smelled strongly of cigarette smoke, with air freshener trying to mask it. Our room floors were sticky and the bathroom towels had dirt stains. The front desk staff stayed in the office and only came out after we’d waited several minutes. They seem to be trying to update the place with new beds and some newer furniture, but the bathrooms and linens need a lot of work.

The room itself was fine, but there was trash all over the grounds. Some unsavory people hang around, and there was activity at all hours, day and night. State patrol and sheriff’s deputies were there one night, and police showed up the next morning. Be aware.

There was moisture in the bathroom from an unknown source, leaving the toilet paper and everything else in the room damp. The room also had an odd smell, which may have been from the moisture or faulty air conditioning. I found white residue on the TV and dead bugs by the lamp, and who knows where else. There were stains on the comforter. We didn’t touch the other sheets or pillows, so I can’t speak to those. Outside the property, there were toilets, which seemed like a hopeful sign of renovation. Don’t be fooled by that or by all the renovation equipment in the lobby. The room was a disaster. Please don’t stay at this location or waste your time. I’m sticking to the facts.
