Grey Whale Inn

We even got to watch a herd of elk wander right past the property, which was so fun. The inn is in a peaceful neighborhood by the beach, away from the crowds. The rooms are well cared for, and the lovely couple who runs the place have friendly cats that roam around.

The managers were warm and helpful, and the beach is just one block away. The property is small, only five rooms, and kept very clean, though it is clearly old. They seem to maintain it well, and have cats to help with the mice we encountered. We rented the smallest room. Its bathroom has such an awkward layout that I don't think a larger person could use it. We visited in October, when I expected off-season rates to be lower. It was still expensive, though it was the cheapest place we found in Cannon Beach. For us, the clean room, kind people, and location were balanced by the cramped bathroom, high price, and lack of included amenities. I'd probably skip a return, though I might consider a larger room if prices dropped in the off season. I rate it 3.5.

I wanted somewhere quiet, with no tourist crowds and the sound of waves nearby, and this Airbnb fit perfectly. The sand was half a block away. Having a kitchenette meant I could make all my meals there, and the room was cozy and clean.

The beach is just a short walk away, with a beautiful view and lovely sunsets. We had a lot of fun with the campfires, too. The owners are sweet, the inn is tidy, and the cats wandering around are friendly. A great place to stay in Cannon Beach :)
