The Ocean Lodge

Our mornings on the deck were a treat: we brought the complimentary full-service breakfast back to the room and listened to the ocean. The breakfast was a real highlight. We had a peaceful, comfortable room with a grassy area just outside the deck. Our dogs loved watching for the wild bunnies there. We were especially touched by how kindly everyone treated our senior dog. She was truly welcome, and getting to share such a quiet, lovely place with her at this stage of her life is a memory we’ll always keep. The staff’s warmth and the thoughtful setting made this a deeply meaningful stay for us.

The staff were very friendly, and the hotel even uses a classic car as a shuttle. We enjoyed the breakfast, all the snacks, the wine tasting, and a nightcap delivered to our room. They’ll also provide chairs and start a beach fire for you. It’s very expensive, more than we’ve ever paid for a room, but if it’s in your budget, I highly recommend The Ocean Lodge.

Balconies, rabbits, elk, Haystack rock and the lighthouse made the setting especially lovely. It’s a beautiful place to stay, with fires on the beach as well. Inside, there are warm bathroom floors and a double shower I loved. They provide lots of snacks, freshly baked cookies every afternoon, and complimentary water in several varieties, including two kinds of bubbles. The happy hour is complimentary, and the continental breakfast was the best. It’s pet friendly, too, though we don’t have pets ourselves and saw many guests with them.

Jeremy and the rest of the staff were incredible, and the location is great. We spent a long weekend there to rest and did exactly that. They’ll even pick up takeout for you, which is handy since there isn’t really DoorDash in the area. I’m picky about beds, and this one was awesome. The room also had a small fridge with a separate freezer compartment, which you hardly ever see, and comfortable chairs that fit my 6' 3" husband. Breakfast was great, and there’s a good selection of DVDs for the in-room player. I’ve stayed in some very fine hotels, and this is easily one of the finest. We’ll be back!
