McBee Cottages

The staff got my room ready in a hurry so I could check in hours early. I’d transferred here the same day after leaving another hotel because of a strange smell, and they were wonderful about my last-minute reservation and early check-in request. Cabin 33 was cozy and incredibly clean. They also brought baskets for my dogs with toys, blankets, and treats right after we arrived. I’d highly recommend this place.

We’d definitely stay here again. The vintage cottages are in a great spot, parking is easy, and the staff were attentive and guest-focused. A couple of things to keep in mind: there’s no air conditioning, and direct afternoon sun made our condo hot. A box fan and cool outdoor air brought it down at night. If you bring a dog, note any existing damage on the door when you arrive, since you could be charged a repair fee even if your dog didn’t cause it.

The location was a highlight: Bald Eagle coffee is close by, the beach is a short stroll along a quiet street, and it’s an easy downhill walk to the main village. The neighborhood stayed peaceful in the evenings and overnight. We were at the street end of the building, so the room got a lot of daylight, though it was nice and dark at night. The kitchen was stocked and had a full fridge, plus a Kurig coffee maker and Sleepy Monk coffee pods. The coffee was amazing. There’s free EV charging next door, with Tesla destination8kW and J1772 plugs. Tesla drivers may want to lower it to 25 A to avoid an auto fault. The staff were extremely professional and helpful, always smiling and quick to respond. The older units, built in the 1920s, have a funky feel and signs of age, including loose electrical outlets, layers of paint, and clogged shower drains. The walls are thin, so we could hear our neighbors talking through the shared wall each night. An update would go a long way.

The rooms were clean and nice, and the location was solid. My only complaint was the shower curtain was too small, so water spilled onto the bathroom floor.
