Fairfield Inn and Suites by Marriott Detroit Canton

We ended up sleeping in our cars, after all three rooms we had were wet to the touch. The carpets, beds, and even our belongings got wet just from being inside. The entire hotel has a mold issue, and there had clearly been some flooding. They offered one gift certificate for a free stay as compensation. Staff live at the hotel, with permanent residents throughout. The walls were dirty, and the mirror had some kind of film on it. We left a can of soda in the room for an hour, and when we poured it out, it was full of bugs.

I left right away because I didn’t feel safe. The room smelled of mold and urine, the property was filthy, and unsavory people were loitering around. It looked nothing like the online photos. This was the worst hotel experience I’ve had, and the worst experience I’ve had with Booking.com, too. I couldn’t stay the night. For over a week I called Booking.com, emailed, and tried to reach the property, but got no response. Booking.com still refused a refund even though I never stayed. The whole thing has been frustrating, exhausting, and unacceptable. Both the hotel and Booking.com should be ABSOLUTELY ashamed of how they handled it. Don’t book this property, and think twice about using Booking.com. They basically told me it was my fault for not reading the reviews about HOW NASTY THIS PLACE IS... WHAT A JOKE.

I stood in line for 45 min with my handicap sister-in-law, only to be told they’d given away my room. I’d booked it over a month ago. I’d like to speak to a manager above the one behind the desk. She was a word I really don’t like. The business ethics and customer service were horrible. I’d strongly suggest spending your money somewhere else. I’d give them zero stars if I could, but it won’t let me post that.

It’s always nice and peaceful here, there’s usually plenty of room available, and every employee is really friendly. They have the best sausage in town.
