Extended Stay America Suites Detroit Canton

I prepaid online for a two-day stay, but when I arrived I was told I was listed as DNR (Do Not Rent) because of a previous visit. Nobody had contacted me about any problem, and the screen they showed me didn't give a reason. They said I'd have to get a refund from the third party and that they couldn't help. I was left without a room and without my money for a while. Getting it back took two full weeks and four hours on the phone. I still don't know why I'm banned from renting at any corporate ESA across the country. I've often enjoyed staying at multiple locations and preferred them to most hotels, until now. They could at least have told me before I tried to return somewhere I'm apparently unwelcome. Nothing happened that would make this treatment an obvious response. If there was a misunderstanding, I would've tried to sort it out if they'd reached out. Instead, I was blacklisted without an explanation or notice.

I've stayed in hundreds of hotels over the years as a retired flight attendant, and the team here in Canton, Michigan really stood out. Everyone and everything was awesome, and I couldn't have asked for a better team. They deserve a Christmas bonus for sure. Thanks to everyone for a great stay, and happy holidays!

This hotel didn't honor my guaranteed reservation for an accessible room with a roll-in shower. When I raised the issue, the manager brushed me off and offered no alternative. I consider this an extreme ADA violation: guaranteed accessible rooms are supposed to be kept out of general inventory, and overbooking them is a federal violation. I'm filing a formal complaint with the Department of Justice about this discrimination. If you need accessible accommodations, don't trust this location.

I love staying here because the staff are so courteous and friendly. Michael works hard and goes out of his way to help me and the other guests. He's a real asset to the hotel. Louise is wonderful too, with such a charming personality.
