Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Cape Coral/North Fort Myers

I came down with the flu on 17 October, the day before my reservation, which was for 18 October. Since the booking was non-refundable, I called to ask about canceling or rescheduling. Bonnie told me rescheduling was no problem. I really appreciate a hotel that understands circumstances and is willing to work with guests when plans change. That says a lot about their service. Thank you!

The staff were friendly and helpful, and my room was clean. There were plenty of breakfast options, though the sausage was gross. The worker kept everything stocked and tidy, and you can find something else to eat. It felt too pricey for the location. Also, the body wash and shampoo dispensers were put in an awkward, unsafe spot inside the tub. They took up space in an already small tub, leaving you standing on the curved part of the floor, pressed against the shower curtain on one side and poked by the dispensers on the other. If they were at either end, near the faucet, you probably wouldn’t notice them.

It’s a decent enough hotel, but the rooms could use some TLC. The carpet is dark, depressing, and really outdated, and all the lights need updating. The mini fridge is tiny, barely big enough for a few things, and they only gave us two towels for a weeklong stay with another person. My cooler was way bigger.

Those reviews seemed too good to be true, and that’s how it turned out. There was nobody at the front desk when I arrived, so I waited ten minutes before anyone finally checked me in. Then I couldn’t open my room door because it was locked from the inside, with people already in there. They clearly have some big management problems.
