Quality Inn

I was in Cape Girardeau for a wedding and checked in without trouble, aside from an incidental charge that they said would be refunded at checkout. That refund never came. The room itself was poorly cleaned, with roaches coming out as I walked around and stains on the bed linens. When I used the bathroom, the toilet wasn’t working properly. I opened the tank to look and found a bag of used drug syringes inside. I brought it to the front desk associate, who didn’t seem surprised. I had to remove it myself and throw it away. My fiance at the time and I didn’t feel safe staying there, so we packed up and told the front desk we were leaving. I asked for a refund and was denied, though they offered a cleaner room. The first room hadn’t been clean in the first place. A couple of days later I called to speak with a manager about the refund. She was very rude and said no because the front desk associate had offered another room. The promised incidental refund still hadn’t been made either. They treat guests poorly and don’t seem to care about cleanliness. I wish I could post all the pictures as proof, but I either can’t figure out how or it isn’t possible. I’d recommend never staying here.

After five minutes I left, and I still feel like I need to burn my clothes and bathe in bleach. The guy at the desk just shrugged and went back to his phone when I told him what I’d found. The room smelled of rot and stale urine so badly I nearly gagged. I saw two huge rats by the heater, then found large, crusty brown stains and patches that looked like dried blood on the sheets. It seemed like they hadn’t been changed from the last guest. The carpet was sticky, black mold was dripping from the bathroom ceiling, and the supposedly clean towels had long black hairs stuck all over them. This was an absolute nightmare. The health department needs to condemn this place immediately.

I stayed here in early December 2025. I came out of the shower naked and found a black man standing in the middle of my room. He was shocked, and so was I. It turned out the hotel staff had knowingly double-booked the room. They told me, “We are out of rooms tonight, we thought you two could share the room. He's black, you are an Arab, we thought you could get along and possibly share the room.” This is unthinkable and put our lives in danger. I was lucky that the other guest, the black man, was the nicest and most polite person. The incident has caused serious medical and psychological damages, and we are considering litigation.

The beds were comfortable, the room was clean, and the TV had lots of channels, including HBO. But breakfast was poor. There were no eggs, sausage, bacon, biscuits, or gravy. The coffee pot was broken, and the only things I saw were small blueberry muffins, a couple of plain bagels, and cereal. There was a waffle maker, but I didn’t see anyone use it, so we ate elsewhere. The $50.00 damage deposit was supposed to be returned in a couple of weeks. I can understand holding it until the room is made up, but not for weeks. We’re sorry we didn’t stay somewhere else. There are lots of other places, and we will NEVER stay here again.
