The place was spotless, and the welcome and service were top notch. Just come prepared: there's no laundry, so bring plenty of clothes and towels, plus your own pillows. The pillows here are lumpy, and one of our beds was badly collapsed in the middle and really uncomfortable, though the other bed was fine. Thin walls mean you may hear conversations or noisy kids next door, so earplugs could help. If you plan for those things, you can still have a good time. Breakfast at pony island inn restaurant was good too :)

The staff were really nice, the price was reasonable, and a few places were within walking distance. I felt very comfortable staying here as a Black traveler. My room was clean, and I appreciated the overhead lighting. The keyless rooms were a nice touch.

The gentleman who checked me in was super nice, and this is 100% the place to stay. We knew we were by the beach, but some kind of floor covering would've made the room a little cozier. Otherwise, five stars across the board. Also, he had the oldest iPhone I've seen in a loooooong time, the kind with a button on it.

When ferry service was suspended, our Ocracoke day trip unexpectedly turned into two nights on the island. The Pony Island Inn staff responded quickly and were helpful and accommodating. They didn't overcharge us for the rooms, and even gave us a small discount given the circumstances. Our rooms were clean and the beds comfortable. Having a fridge, extra-cold freezer, and extra sink was handy, and they provided a few overnight things we needed. The location was convenient, and we'll be back!

We spent a week at the Pony Island Inn and came away feeling like we'd made new friends. The atmosphere was so welcoming, and all the staff were friendly. We could walk everywhere from the ideal location, and the kitchenette worked great for us. Many thanks to everyone! I'm including a photo of one of Ocracoke’s beautiful sunsets.
