Buckingham Motel

A nice, affordable option for a Cape May trip. We had an enjoyable stay, and the staff were especially friendly and courteous, particularly Crystal.

The Buckingham was an easy choice from my first call to ask about rates. I came to Cape May at the end of September for my husband’s bootcamp graduation, and the location was perfect for the area’s price range. Our room was cute, clean, and comfortable, with no problems from check-in through check-out. I’d love to visit again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay in Cape May.

We spent the weekend here. The room was clean, though the sheets on the bed had stains, so we covered them with the pillows provided. I’d still recommend the Buckingham. It’s just outside the busy part of town, which made things nice and quiet.

This was our first stay here, and it will definitely be our last. It’s a cheap hotel, but you get what you pay for. As soon as I opened the room door, there was a really strong smell of pesticides, or as the owner called them, chemicals. She said it was to kill any kind of bugs, but we still found mosquitoes and other bugs in the bathroom. The worst part was getting bitten pretty badly on my lower back by what I believe were bed bugs. The owner said that was impossible and insisted the bites were from sand flies I’d brought back from the beach on my shoes. Sure, lady. She got upset when we left a day before the end of the stay we’d paid for, but didn’t offer a discount for the unused day or try to make things right. Instead, she offered to put the LED light back on, which she said was used in hospitals for cleaning. Sure. More chemicals and a very unpleasant smell. We travel a lot, and this is the first time we’ve experienced anything like it.
