We stayed in the Crow's Nest for six nights in February 2026, during the first half of our Hawaii trip. The room was clean, comfortable, and private, with one of the best views we’ve had in Hawaii. There’s no air conditioning, but the nights were pleasant and we didn’t miss it. We loved having breakfast and Kana’s delicious coffee, grown on site, out on the lanai each morning. Kurt and Kana are genuinely lovely to spend time with. Kurt knows the island well and shared plenty of useful ideas for things to see and do. The setting is remote, and finding the place can be a little tricky, but following the directions carefully worked for us. If you get stuck, Kurt can guide you in by phone. We found the location added to the charm and had no trouble getting around. At night, you’ll hear the jungle frogs and wild hogs, so expect plenty of nature around you. The Edge exceeded our expectations. It was the best B&B stay we’ve ever had, and we’d absolutely return if we’re back on the Big Island.

The rooms and bathroom were very clean, and the setting has terrific views of the water and island. Kurt and Kana made us feel welcome, and we especially enjoyed breakfast. Kurt’s suggestions for swimming spots and coffee farms to visit were much appreciated. We’d stay here again in a heartbeat.

We felt at home almost as soon as Jeff and Camille welcomed us. Camille is a wonderful cook, and her breakfasts were the best. She also knows a lot about the island and places around the world. Jeff is so kind and upbeat, and he had great stories to share. The veranda view is gorgeous, and the whole place feels quiet and peaceful. Thanks so much for looking after us. We’d really love to come back sometime. Vivian & Thijmen

We’re exhausted by the constant stream of lost guests ending up in neighbors’ driveways. The owner hasn’t added suitable signs, despite being asked to fix the problem. It’s especially bad at night. One guest recently drove into the rocks at the edge of our driveway, and another nearly backed into fence posts while turning around. The place may be beautiful once you find it, but the neighbors keep paying the price. Gosh Kurt, your talk about Hawaiian Tourism and Aloha doesn’t sit well when you use it to judge your neighbors. Where’s your Aloha for people dealing with guests who drive too fast or pull into their yards after dark? One lost guest came into our home at 9 pm, opened the screen door, and walked inside without knocking or saying hello. Your claim that only three times people have gotten lost doesn’t match what we’ve seen. We’ve lived here for six years, and before I put up a sign saying this wasn’t your BnB, cars constantly turned onto our driveway and were about to unload luggage. You know guests have trouble finding you. Several have mentioned it in their reviews, and several neighbors have put up signs telling your guests to keep going because they want their privacy left alone. I also want to correct your claim that I “read the riot act at him.” Your guest was about to drive over large lava rocks and an ohia post in a very low car. I warned him to stop because he couldn’t see where he was going and would have badly damaged the vehicle. He actually apologized to me the next day. You can use all the flowery BS you want, Kurt, but professional signs could ease the anxiety guests feel trying to find your place. That’s all the neighbors have been asking for. Instead, you say nobody gets lost and blame us. Do you tell guests about the single-lane drive, where they may have to back up in the dark if a car comes the other way, with no shoulder? Do you explain what they should do? Ignoring the problem won’t fix it. Even the people who cover for you when you’re off island have wondered why you haven’t addressed it. I feel bad for my neighbors, who have to deal with lost guests plowing through their roadway. Yes, we’d love to go to the beach, but there are too many tourists for us to enjoy it. The pictures show where your lost guest got stuck and was headed toward even worse conditions.

The rooms are comfortable and nicely decorated, and there are guidebooks to browse. Kurt is happy to answer questions, and guests can use equipment and laundry. The owners are warm and make you feel special. Breakfast is really good, with fresh fruit from their farm.
