Coffee Garden is a lovely, quiet place to stay away from the busier parts of Kona, and we’d gladly return on our next trip to the west side of the Big Island. The property has all kinds of fruit trees and flowers, an ocean view down the slope, and no road noise from our room, just frogs and insects at night. The room was cozy, very clean, and had a small en suite bathroom plus a kitchenette with several appliances and a larger mini fridge. Breakfast wasn’t being served during our week, but our kind host gave us lots of fruit from her beautiful garden trees. There’s also a café a couple doors down with great coffee and food. Two friendly, respectful dogs live upstairs with the owners, which was a bonus for me, and there were some more aloof outdoor cats to watch as they went about their business. Several coffee farms and the Place of Refuge National Historic Site are a short drive away.

There are only two rooms here, which made it a wonderfully peaceful getaway. The hosts were friendly and treated us like family, and the dogs and cats were lovely too. The property and the view from our room were beautiful. At night we heard mostly frogs, but it was easy to fall asleep. The road down can be a bit tough, so bring a good vehicle, though you get used to it. I’m sad to leave and will definitely come back. I’d choose this place over a resort any day. Aloha, and thanks for sharing your beautiful property with us!

We had a relaxing stay, with the touristy part of the island just a short drive away. The host family were friendly and shared plenty of information about the island. If we return to the Big Island, we’ll stay here again.

Ping made us feel so welcome. She’s warm and accommodating, and the breakfast she prepared with fresh farm fruit and vegetables was delicious. Our room was comfortable and clean, with a lovely view of the farm’s lush fruit trees and the ocean peeking through. The farm has four cats and a dog too, all friendly and well trained. It’s obviously no Sheraton, and that’s part of its charm. We’d happily stay again and recommend it to anyone visiting the Big Island.

The location worked perfectly for early snorkeling trips to Two Step and the nearby bays. Mornings were peaceful, with a lovely view, and the farm-fresh breakfast was amazing, including coffee straight from the farm. Ping is an amazing hostess and will gladly help if you need anything. It’s an active farm, so expect the usual farm activity. The rooms are modest but amazingly clean, with a range of small appliances. I grew up on a farm and felt at home right away, and really relaxed. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.
