The common room was a big part of what made our stay so nice. There was plenty of space for families to watch a movie, relax, or spend time together. Breakfast came hot, with eggs, sausage, and biscuits and gravy, and we loved having free coffee all day. We slept great in the comfortable bed, too. The owner was so welcoming, and the Sterling Inn felt like home from the minute we arrived.

We slept well and felt rested enough to get back on the road in the morning. Breakfast was delicious, and the peaceful atmosphere made the night especially relaxing. We stayed just one night on December 24, 2025, while traveling to Canada. The hotel was cozy and warm, with a comfortable living room and dining area, and everything was clean and well cared for. Bill and Sue were very friendly hosts, and the care they put into the place really showed. We loved our stay and will definitely come back. Highly recommended.

I stopped for one night to recover from a long drive on my way to Quebec city, and slept really well. Even though I was the only guest that day, they served enough food for six people, maybe three lumberjacks. There was a huge selection at the coffee counter, with fruit, all kinds of bread, and cereal. The food is homemade, the service was great, and that really was real maple sirop. The administration changed in July 2025. I'd like to return for the many trails nearby, and the price includes the drive to and from the trailheads.

Snowshoeing along the Kennebec river was gorgeous. The inn has a historic feel and is very cozy, with a spacious gathering room full of light. It’s a welcoming bed and breakfast, and the hosts were wonderful.

The bed was old and extremely squeaky, and I found this one of the worst “hotel” stays I’ve had. The place seemed to have given up on upkeep. Fly carcasses were everywhere, from the window sills and staircase to every corner, and the shared showers were dirty, with soap scum and lots of hair. There were dried pee stains on the toilet seat, so I felt I had to squat over it. I stayed here last year and was completely grossed out. Honestly, camping would have been cleaner and more cost effective.
