After our first night of a two-night stay, my daughter and I woke to bed bugs on the pillows and headboard. I also found two crawling on me. The front desk manager didn’t offer to cover the night, and when I said I shouldn’t have to pay for sleeping in a bed with bugs, she was rude and never apologized. She seemed to suggest I was making it up, even after I showed her photos and videos. She wouldn’t come see the room or send another manager. We were moved to a different room, and a very kind, apologetic housekeeper offered to high-heat dry our belongings. She took her own photos and videos while collecting our things. I filed a complaint afterward, but still haven’t heard from the insurance adjuster they said would contact me. The service and communication were awful. Check the beds before they charge your card, or you may not get your money back.

The rooms were clean and nice, but bring your own food, hygiene supplies, and coffee. Most essentials were missing except shampoo, body wash, and conditioner. Staff could be either very pleasant or very unpleasant, with nothing in between. At 5 a.m. I couldn’t get a drinkable cup of coffee anywhere. Nothing nearby was open, and breakfast didn’t start until 6:30, when I had to leave. The only option was the dirty little in-room coffee maker, which looked like an ashtray from 1995. I needed coffee, not an unsolicited lesson in how to use it, complete with dead looks and hand signals, or the implication that wanting coffee early on a Friday was unreasonable. I wasn’t staying at Springhill Marriott to learn coffee-making or be ambushed by staff before dawn. The breakfast was a one-star experience too. The eggs seemed to float in water, the mashed potatoes were aggressively seasoned with slimy red pepper, and the pork-flavored dog treats with maple syrup were a strange side. The coffee was very strong and bold, and seemed made by someone who doesn’t drink coffee, smokes, or has no tongue. Not good, Marriot. Parking was odd: cars blocked entrances and exits to the carports, which could be a code violation. For the good points, the rooms were clean, and my partner, though not me, got points because of my complaint. I don’t have an account, and I don’t see how giving my partner a free night would make me feel better. This was my last Springhill or Fairfield Marriot in Louisville.

Check-in and checkout were easy, and the front desk staff were really nice. My room was clean and pleasant, with the toilet and hand sink separate from the shower and sink. There was a crack in the shower floor and the ceiling was a little rough, but otherwise it was very clean. Breakfast was good too. The first morning the room was so cold I went back to mine to eat. They made up for it the next day, when breakfast was piping hot. I’d definitely stay again.

We were there Friday through Monday, and housekeeping never came. The room was spacious, with a fridge that actually got cold, which was nice, but the double-room layout was odd and lacked the bathroom privacy glass door at the foot of the bed. We were on the sixth floor facing the street, and traffic was loud with the fire station nearby. It was a decent stay overall. I’d request a higher floor or a room at the back.

The room was roomy and clean, the beds were super comfy, breakfast was amazing, and the staff were awesome. Check-in and parking went smoothly, and they kindly let us in early so we could rest before Thunder Over Louisville. Special thanks to Brice, the Saturday night clerk, for exceptional customer service. Absolutely loved the stay and will book again next year.
