Quality Inn Carbondale University area

We left without staying. The bathroom light revealed roaches, which was an immediate no for us. The room also smelled like a dog, something we thought we could put up with, and the lobby floor had obvious dirty mop streaks. Outside, the overhang looked like it was falling down, so we didn’t feel safe pulling the car underneath. That seemed cosmetic at first, but the roaches settled it. Do not stay at Quality Inn.

The remodel really impressed me. Fresh paint, new carpet and updated lights and sink fixtures make the room feel like a home away from home. The solar shades and nicely grouted surfaces are a good touch too.

For a short, budget-friendly stay, this worked out really well. The building looks a bit old, but our room and bathroom were tidy, and the bedding and towels were fresh. Breakfast was decent, and at this price we felt we got a great deal. There’s also an outlet for charging a Tesla, which earns the place an extra star from me.

The location is convenient, with lots of restaurants and fast food places close enough to walk to. But the hotel itself is a dump. My room’s TV didn’t work, the halls smelled like feet, and people were smoking weed and cigarettes all over the place. If low prices, smoking, and having a pet with you matter most, this might suit you. I’ll pass.
