Its main advantage is being right in the middle of town. The view is nice if you want to sit and take it in, and some people say the beach suits surfers or boogie boarders, though we didn’t see any. With all the rocks and rough surf, I wouldn’t consider it safe for swimming or snorkeling.
Honk’s beach is small and has some shade. We stopped there during our trip to watch the sunset.
There isn’t much in the way of facilities at Honl's beach, such as restrooms or places to eat, but it’s close to central Kona. The grassy area with a few trees gives you some shade and would work well for a picnic. We visited in May 2023 and May 2024 while staying in Kona, and both times it was a lovely, quiet little beach. The waves were pretty big, so I wouldn’t recommend it for kids or snorkeling, though perhaps they calm down a bit later in summer. You might spot sea turtles or find seashells. There was also a surfboard-shaped plaque saying the surfboard came from here years ago. My partner and I enjoyed visiting. Steve and Jacqui fae Fife.
We loved every minute at Honl's beach. It’s great for sunset views and little kids. There are only a few parking spots along the road.
You can sit along the seawall and get a perfect view of this beautiful beach. We saw lots of surfers and people out in canoes. There’s also a bathroom and shower across the street.
