Homewood Suites by Hilton Carlsbad-North San Diego County

The suites have a practical kitchen setup and a comfortable layout, and they're spacious. The location is convenient for families and longer stays around Carlsbad. But the guest experience fell short. Parking was stressful because the lot was nearly always full and the spaces were very tight. Housekeeping never responded or followed up when I requested cleaning several times. Some front desk staff didn't seem attentive or well trained, and even simple requests weren't handled properly. The coffee in the lobby was cold, and there was no hot water. We also didn't get toothbrushes, toothpaste, or complimentary water bottles at check-in, which didn't meet the standard I expected from a Hilton property. With better housekeeping, staff training, and attention to basic amenities, this place could be much better. My stay didn't meet Hilton standards.

The location, staff, and breakfast were all great, but we checked out a day early after what was meant to be a four-day stay. Dogs barked continuously day and night from rooms around the property. There should be designated pet-friendly areas. The walls are thin, so we heard people on both sides, including screaming and crying kids and loud TVs. It was unbearable, and we could barely hear our own TV. We could also hear people on the second floor above us. Very disappointing.

For a family visiting the area, this is a comfortable option with easy access to local attractions. It's close to LEGOLAND and a short drive from the beach, and the hotel was clean, with spacious rooms that worked well for us. Check-in went smoothly and the staff were friendly. Breakfast was just okay, but enough to get the day started. We had a nice stay overall.

The staff were super nice and helpful, which was the best part. But we were traveling with a baby and ended up cutting our stay short to move to another hotel. The exterior, facilities, and room didn't look like the pictures. The pool was tiny, and the water didn't look clear, so I couldn't tell if its pump was running. Our first room smelled moldy until the AC had been on for a while. The sofa and chairs were worn and sagging. The dishwasher didn't work, and after a few tries I was told to troubleshoot it myself because there was no engineer on site. We moved rooms the next day; it looked newer, but the shower still didn't work properly, with water coming from the faucet and shower head at the same time regardless of how I moved the knob. We also found dirt, crumbs, or hair after the room had been cleaned.
