Ocean Palms Beach Resort

We only had one night here on our road trip, and I wish we'd booked a week. The beach was so easy to reach, with steps across the street, and reception had chairs and umbrellas we could take down. We had a lovely afternoon on the sandy shore. Our ground-floor room opened onto the courtyard near the parking lot. It was spacious, clean, and had good facilities, including self-catering cooking equipment we regretted not having more time to use. The pool was small but had plenty of loungers, with the same tropical look as the rest of the place. There were also lots of tables and places to sit outside, both sunny and shady. Check-in was easy to find, and the staff member who checked us in was fab and really helpful. We felt welcome, which hadn't been the case at a lot of places on this first post-Covid road trip. We found street parking outside to check in, then got a space in the small courtyard after learning where our room was. I can see close parking being tricky at busy times, but that comes with a small hotel in a residential part of a busy beach town. We can't wait to return for a few days once things have settled down in the US over the next few years. It's on our must-return list.

The hot tub was filthy, and there was black mold in the bathrooms. Our suite smelled like mildew, the beds were uncomfortable, and there was no A/C in the bedrooms, only the living rooms. The breakfast was just a small selection of packaged junk food. We had booked and fully paid for two rooms for spring break, but they still put an additional $200 deposit on our credit card. Both rooms were in high-traffic spots. In one, the outside gate slammed about half a dozen times during the night, right behind the headboard on the other side of the wall. The other was by the beach entrance, with nonstop foot traffic that made sleeping difficult. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

We've stayed here twice now, and the location works incredibly well for us. We love walking, and everything we need is within walking distance. The accommodations are simple and clean, and the staff are super great. Can't wait to bring the kids and grandkids back and stay in a family unit!

Support local! This is a family-owned property, and you can tell they really want guests to be happy and satisfied. The resort was clean, the staff were so friendly, and the customer service was top notch.
