Holiday Inn Express Meadowlands Area

The staff made our stay even better. They were kind, respectful, and professional. We also had a clean, well-maintained room, and the breakfast tasted great with plenty of good options. I’d recommend this Holiday Inn and would stay here again.

I rarely leave reviews, only when somewhere is really good or so bad I can’t stay quiet. Sadly, this was the second kind. I’m an IHG Gold member, but I was treated like I was at the cheapest roadside motel, even though this was a Holiday Inn Express and cost about $170 a night. The room felt neglected and dirty, not just a little outdated. There was a cockroach on the wall, the mattress was visibly stained and dirty, and the carpet had obvious dirt patterns. Wallpaper was peeling, parts of the room were poorly maintained, one lamp was broken, and the lighting looked damaged and unsafe. The service made things worse. At about 11:30 PM, after a 12-hour shift, I went downstairs, showed photos, and politely asked to move to another room. They said the hotel was full, then the front desk representative processed a refund and canceled my stay without my consent. I was left without a place to sleep in the middle of the night. I had to find another hotel at the last minute and pay $270, much more than my original booking. It was extremely stressful and completely unacceptable. I returned the next day hoping to resolve it with the manager. All I got was an apology, with no effort to make things right. This was far below what I expect from IHG. I’m disappointed and frustrated, won’t stay at this property again, and wouldn’t recommend it.

The Holiday Inn Express in Carlstadt met everything I look for in a hotel. I was greeted well, my reservation was handled properly, and the room was pleasant and comfortable enough that I could have stayed in without being disturbed. The property is family friendly, clean, and well maintained. Mike at the front office was especially helpful in arranging the handicap facility I needed. The manager was kind enough to extend my checkout, so I didn’t have to sit at the airport for hours. The staff were very accommodating with my special needs. Please keep up the good work. The location was a 10/10 for our two day American Dream trip with my daughters. We got some good workouts in at the fitness center. The equipment is basic, but it did the job. The pool and fitness center were open during our stay in the first week of April, even though we’d been told at booking they wouldn’t be, because construction had been pushed back. The free continental style breakfast was good enough, and the woman at the front desk was very nice every time we saw her.
