The location in Carmel made for an easy, pleasant base to explore the area. We received this weekend away as a gift from our daughter, and we’d stayed here before and enjoyed it. This time we were in a cabin closer to the main road. It was simple and comfortable, with just the basics, and suited a Carmel getaway. Traffic noise was noticeable in that cabin. On our previous visit we stayed farther from the road and it was much quieter. If noise bothers you, I’d ask for one of the interior cabins.

The room itself was charming, but the bed made the stay rough. Springs or whatever was inside kept poking me all night, and it felt like I was lying on a bar. I tried shifting around to find a comfortable spot. The fridge and heater also made noise all night, which I might have put up with if the bed had been comfortable. The bed is one of the most important parts, so that’s why I rated it low.

The cottage is in a cute, convenient neighborhood, close to shops and Hwy 1. But everything inside feels old and outdated, and it’s overpriced for what you get. I wish the owners would put more effort into making the interior cozy and beautiful.

The cottages are aged, but nicely maintained. We slept well on a very comfy bed with nice linens, and really enjoyed the outdoor rock barbecue and patio area. My dog had a great time too. Parking is very cramped. I’d recommend the place.

The location is beautiful, but the hotel is pretty outdated. The bathroom only flushed on the third try, if you were lucky. There were cracks in the trim, and no AC or heater. Don’t expect much overall. I’d rather pay another $50 to sleep somewhere much better.
