The price worked for us for a night on the road. The bathroom seemed recently redone and was clean, though there was paper left unflushed in the toilet when we arrived. The room itself felt dated, with old-fashioned curtains, pelmet coverings, bedspread, and antique-looking furniture. The sheets were thin and seemed worn, and I could feel the blanket itching through them. Hopefully they replace the bedding soon.

The room felt cozy, and it was clear some small renovations had been done recently. It also had its own heating. The curtains and bedspreads could use an update, but everything else was excellent. The receptionist handled our questions quickly, and both check-in and the stay went smoothly. A good hotel for the price.

I have photos of the bed to document its condition. The blankets and bed cover were sandy and clearly unclean, so sleeping was really uncomfortable. We were there one night with our two kids, and a clean bed should be a basic expectation at any price or star rating. There was only one receptionist at the hotel. I asked for a manager but was told none was available. They said someone would follow up, but nobody did, and my email afterward also went unanswered. It seems the hotel counts on its location and low price, while cleanliness and care for guests fall short. I’m posting this so others can make an informed choice.

We booked a queen room and were pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to a King. The front desk gentleman was very nice and accommodating. Carmel Inn and Suites has a rustic feel that I enjoy, and it was quiet and clean, with a great location for walking to the shopping area. We had a great stay, thank you.

We only spent one night here, but the room was comfortable and very clean. It had a unique feel, and this quaint little hotel is right downtown, close to places to shop and eat.
