La Playa Hotel

The grounds were so gorgeous that staying there felt like having the run of a movie set. I also noticed staff regularly walking the property to look for things to improve or quality concerns, which felt refreshing. No detail seemed out of place. The service was outstanding, and the restaurant and bar were fantastic. Our room was clean and well maintained. We could walk to the beach, downtown and restaurants, and there was a free shuttle if we didn't feel like walking. For what we paid, I couldn't believe how good this place was. A casual trip turned into one of the most magical stays of our lives, eat your heart out Disney. Our only small complaint was that the free cookies could have been softer. We'll be back. Thanks to the La Playa staff for a memorable trip!

We had a great ocean view, and the wait staff were amazing throughout our stay. We enjoyed the lobby cocktails and mimosa buffet, too. For our first trip to Carmel, we were here for our wedding anniversary, and the front desk made check-in smooth and helped us out a lot. The hotel is very dog friendly, which was a plus. Parking can be limited: the lot is first come, first served, and otherwise it's street parking. We found a spot a block away, which wasn't bad. A bellhop helped us bring in our bags and dog. The beach is about a 10-minute walk, and the main shopping area is around 12-15 minutes away. We loved the location and will come back. Thanks for making our stay memorable!

Daily brunch, afternoon cocktails and chocolate chip cookies at night were lovely extras. The bar had delicious cocktails and a lively, local feel. Service at La Playa was exemplary, with all the staff striving to do their best. The hotel was clean, comfortable and well appointed, in a quieter neighborhood. It's a short walk to the beach and an easy stroll to busy downtown. A gem in Carmel, well worth a visit if you're staying here.

We were attending a wedding with the reception at La Playa, and as a guest, I thought the event was lovely. The food was excellent, which isn't always a given with wedding meals, and I can see why they chose this place. I stayed at the hotel for a week and had a dream of a time. It's beautiful inside and out, and the staff were friendly, attentive and helpful. The champagne breakfast was impressive and delicious. My room was a little tight, but the ocean view made up for that, and the shower had some of the best water pressure I've had at a hotel. The food at Bud's was fantastic. The in-town shuttle, daily happy hour and evening cookies were nice perks. I'd absolutely stay again and recommend it to anyone visiting the area.
