We stayed in room 201, otter creek. The king bed was comfortable, but humidity tended to linger in the room, and we didn’t always feel at ease leaving the windows open. The place is cute and walkable to Carmel, with convenient access to the highway toward Monterey. The trade-off is hearing some traffic move onto the smaller street. Noise from the neighboring room was a bigger problem. We heard a family watching TV and a child jumping on the bed past 10PM, then a couple having intense sex around 7AM one morning. My spouse was greeted and treated kindly, but I was mostly ignored, for reasons I still don’t understand. At the same price, you can find better quality rooms if you book ahead. This could work as a backup if other places are booked.

Lisa was really kind to us and gave me a discount. The room was awesome. If you need somewhere to stay in Carmel by the sea, you should go here.

Do not book here. After our debit card payment had gone through, Rina at the front desk was rude and tried to claim they didn’t accept debit cards. She said the payment was declined, but the money had been taken out, so we have to wait days to get refunded.

The room was spotless and comfortable for our one night, and parking was easy and free. When it started raining as we checked out, the kind woman at the front desk lent me an umbrella. A thoughtful touch. This pleasant hotel is on the edge of Carmel. You can just about walk to downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea, though the route has some hills and the pedestrian sidewalks aren’t always good.

The hotel is charming and close to everything in Carmel. Our room was clean, well kept, and had everything we needed. The staff were friendly and helpful. I’d recommend staying here if you’re planning a trip to Carmel.
