Tradewinds Carmel

We really enjoyed our time at Tradewinds. The breakfast choices were good, and having them brought to the room before we headed out was handy. Staff also refilled our water bottles a few times, which was kind of them. Our room was clean and roomy, with a fireplace, balcony, water fountain, and robes that added to the relaxed feel. Check-in went smoothly. Parking can be hit or miss, though we always managed to find a street spot. Had a wonderful stay and would recommend it.

The breakfast basket delivered to the room each morning was both tasty and convenient. We were also very happy with our comfortable room and its nice view. The hotel has lovely grounds, welcoming staff, and it’s dog friendly. Downtown Carmel is just a few steps away. We’d happily recommend it and come back.

We gave Tradewinds a try on our last Carmel-by-the-Sea visit, after staying at plenty of the town’s rustic, slightly quirky hotels. It turned out to be a gem, tucked away on a quiet end of town, a few blocks’ walk from Ocean on Mission. The rooms are roomy, with Polynesian Zen decor. There are two parking lots, plus a lovely shared courtyard with plants, water features, and a fire pit in the evening. Highly recommended.

The lobby always had drinks waiting, including fruit water, iced tea, and other beverages. Coming back from a walk to the central downtown restaurants and beach areas, it was nice to have something there to enjoy. Since downtown is so close and parking in Carmel is limited, walking worked well for us. The hotel has a distinctive Asian style that I really liked, and it’s well maintained despite being an older property. It’s an easy walk from the edge of downtown. Carmel hotels are expensive, so while this wasn’t cheap, I found the price reasonable. It was my first stay here, and I’d go back.
