Hampton Inn Carrizo Springs

The staff, especially Maria, made this stay a lovely surprise. They were warm, friendly, and helpful. I’ve stayed at Hampton Inns, Holiday Inns, and other places, and usually expect them all to be decent and reliable. This one put in a little extra effort. The additional free items for Honors members were nice too. If you have a reason to stay in carrizo springs, choose the Hampton inn.

The woman who checked us in gave us a heads-up that the fire alarm would be tested the next morning, and I was so grateful she did. At a Hampton Inn in Selma, TX the night before, nobody told us about the test and the alarm woke us at 6-7am. This was the cleanest and friendliest Hampton Inn of the three we stayed at on our road trip, and we felt comfortable enough to really rest. We were visiting family for Spring Break, and I’ll recommend this hotel to them and stay here again on my next visit.

After a long night on the road, we found a clean, comfortable room that was exactly what we needed. We’d called The Hampton Inn in Carrizo Springs around 4:30 am, after other hotels had sent us through automated systems or quickly said they were full. A real person answered by the second ring, cheerfully confirmed a king bed was available, and told us to come over. The young man on the night shift checked us in quickly and greeted us with a smile. We wanted to use points, and though he wasn’t sure how to apply them, he called someone for guidance. They answered right away and helped him sort it out within minutes. That kind of personal attention and genuine hospitality meant a lot. We’ll stay here if we pass through again.

I’m still checked in, but I’ll leave once my company can arrange another hotel. I wouldn’t recommend this place if you have a pet or are staying for a long time. I don’t feel they allow you personal space, and the front desk and management don’t stick to what they say. If there’s a problem, ask for the owner, since management blames them for why they can’t honor earlier agreements. I’m a veteran with a 50% disability rating, and I have a dog who helps me through PTSD night terrors. He isn’t a service animal, but he’s extremely well trained, which the staff have seen. I’ve stayed around 300 nights at Hilton hotels over the past two years without trouble until this one. One day the front desk said I could keep him in the restroom, then the next day I was told he had to be kenneled. I can understand the rule, but being given conflicting directions is infuriating. Because this is a long stay, I thought management had agreed to service my room only on Mondays so I could have some privacy. Then manager Maria scolded me in the hallway, in front of about four other people, because staff had tried to service the room while my dog wasn’t in a kennel. It was embarrassing and unprofessional. I confronted her later and said that wasn’t okay. Her tone and confrontational attitude changed completely, and she acted like she’d only been putting on a show in front of her staff. This happened during my lunch break. I use part of my 30-minute lunch to make sure my dog hasn’t made a mess, which is more than many guests with dogs can say. I also have nanny cam footage of staff entering my room after I asked them not to, since I want some privacy during my extended stay, and video of my interaction with hotel staff in case they say I’m lying.
