Four Winds Motel

I’ve been living here for a few months while my husband works in the area, and the owners have helped me with everything I’ve needed. They’re friendly and treat you very well. The place is clean and professionally run, and it’s a spectacularly quiet spot.

There were a few helpful features, and they moved us to a king room when we asked. The fridge and freezer were large, there was a microwave, and I liked having the sink and vanity apart from the toilet and shower. Still, I left disappointed, and 3 stars feels generous. The door dead bolt didn’t work, and the safety latch was broken. When we arrived late, a man was standing outside our door smoking. He was probably harmless, but you never know. The bedside lamp charging plugs didn’t work, and there was only one tissue left. Worst of all, we found 2 large drops of blood on the sheets as we got into bed. We were tired and it was late, so we slept there anyway, but it was gross. I would’ve told the front desk the next morning, but nobody was there when we left at 7:30 am.

The Trinity Bomb site was closed when I went to see it, but the staff were helpful when I called several times with booking questions and to ask what else there was to see nearby. They were very polite, and I still ended up enjoying my trip. My room had a giant TV, a microwave, and a mini fridge with a freezer, and it was clean. I had dinner at nearby Rosey’s pizza, where the food was delicious and there was live music. I’d book with Four Winds again if I’m in the area.

Mital, the owner, was kind and helpful, and knew the area well. Service was great, and the rooms were clean and updated. The location also makes it easy to get around Carrizozo and the surrounding area.
