The room was clean, the flooring was nice, and the bathroom looked recently remodeled. But I came expecting one of the advertised king beds, and nobody asked what size room or bed we wanted. Based on the marketing and local suggestions, we assumed we'd get a king. Instead, it was a full sized bed, barely big enough for two adults, with one of the most uncomfortable mattresses I've ever slept on. I could feel every spring. The toilet was also just 2-3 inches from the wall and sink, leaving almost no room to sit. Building code calls for 12-15 inches, so the bathroom doesn't meet code. After the remodel, I expected at least the bare minimum, but it wasn't there. I planned to stay several nights, but the tiny bed was so uncomfortable I booked another hotel across town.

It was a pleasant, clean place for my two-night stay, and I was the only guest there those nights. Still, at around $80 a night, it costs about the same as the Super 8 in Carrollton behind Pizza but doesn't match the rooms or service there. Super 8 has much bigger, more updated rooms, showers, and TVs. Other than that comparison, I had a nice stay.

The rooms were remarkably clean, the beds comfortable, and there was more space than I expected, with a desk, cable TV, microwave, refrigerator, and full-sized shower. I didn't meet staff at check-in, though the attendant was friendly when I returned my key. The thin walls let me hear the person next door snoring and what they were watching or listening to. Still, Carrollton is quiet and I fell asleep easily. The air conditioner is loud but cools the room well. My vehicle was visible parked right outside, and the town felt relatively safe. La Bella Motel gave me the best motel stay I could have asked for and has set my standard for motels. It's the most comfortable I've ever been in one.

I've stayed here several days on three or four different trips, and it's my favorite out of the several hundred hotels I've tried. It's super clean and charming as hell, with care put into the details. I've never met the owner or even anyone there, but they still managed to give me a perfect experience. Bravo!
