Microtel Inn & Suites Cartersville

We took one look at the rooms and slept in our car. The second room they showed us was as bad, maybe worse, than the first. The bedspreads had huge stains that looked like they'd never been washed, the carpets felt sticky and moldy, and the shower looked dirty. In the first room, what looked like dog feces by the bed was enough to make us ask for another room. Microtel is nasty.

The customer service was great, and they really tried to find me a clean room with working equipment. I was moved three times. After that, it seemed like this was just how the whole place was. The building smelled strongly of fermented cigarette smoke, and even rooms that didn't smell like that when you arrived would eventually start to. No need to go into every detail.

The manager dismissed everything we told him. He denied that there were bed bugs and wouldn't even look at the photos I had to show him. We were first put in a room with bed bugs, then moved to one that was dirty enough that we had to change the bedding, clean the bathroom, take out the trash, and vacuum when we arrived. When we raised that, all he said was that the room was dirty because of the weather. He made no effort to fix anything.

The room felt dated, with torn carpet and stained towels. The bathtub faucet wouldn't shut off, and there was a strong weed odor in the hotel.
