Cambria Hotel Raleigh - Durham Airport

The airport shuttle was included and got us there with exactly the time we needed. We used the park and fly option along with our stays on two different nights. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, and went out of their way to give us all the information we needed. Our room and the hotel areas we visited were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was included and good for the price, with hot food kept stocked.

Breakfast was decent, and the location is handy if you need to be close to the airport. The rooms felt dated and were only average for cleanliness. There’s a setup for office work, but the lighting is so dim it’s hard to brighten the whole room. Check-in took painfully long and still wasn’t completed properly. The next day, while I was changing, someone opened my room because the system had marked me as a no-show. I also called eight times about the airport shuttle while standing out in the freezing cold. Only two calls were answered, and the rest were ignored when I was trying to get an update.

We had to change rooms after checking in. The first one seemed fine at first, but once we turned on the lights it was clear it hadn’t been cleaned: there were little plastic, rubber-band-like pieces on the floor and hair in both the sink and tub. In the second room, I found more hair on the lounge, washcloths with holes, and a very worn desk chair. I’d originally picked this hotel after seeing its good reviews, so the stay was the opposite of what I expected.

It’s a nice room apart from a few things that really got to me. The shower barely has any pressure, the HVAC was noisy, and the blankets were the thinnest I’ve ever seen. There were only two cups for hot drinks, and with no curtains on the window, light came in at night. We’ve got another night here, which is disappointing. I expected better from Cambria.
