Comfort Suites Regency Park

For what I paid, I expected the room to smell better and to have water available. There was no water in the room or for sale at reception, so I had to get it from the bathroom sink. The room on the fifth floor smelled moldy, and the sheets did too. One part of a sheet was torn, small, but still. The elevators were dirty, and the hotel badly needs remodeling. It may be the cheapest place in the area, but the TVs also had no Netflix or other paid streaming.

I had surgery in Raleigh today, and I’m really thankful they let me check in at 1 o’clock. The room is nice and clean, and the area feels safe and quiet. Housekeeping is always great, but the front desk customer service is what stands out. It’s amazing. The price is very affordable too. I’d recommend this hotel to anyone, five stars all the way.

The staff were amazing, friendly, and helpful, and breakfast was good. I can see this being a good hotel, and I’d love to return after it’s been updated and the mold and mildew dealt with. The first floor, which seems to be for guests with pets, smelled really bad, and paint was peeling in several places. It also needs better cleaning. Our bed wasn’t very comfortable, and because the first-floor rooms sit right below the kitchen and dining area, we didn’t get much rest from the noise. Soundproof panels would help. The place has potential, but needs remodeling.

The staff were friendly and attentive, and the location was handy for shopping and dining. Those were about the only good parts of the stay. We were next to someone whose kids were sick and screaming all night, and the walls are so thin we could hear their conversations. People talking outside carried into the room too. Since the hotel is next to a hospital, a busy night meant listening to ambulances coming and going. There were no curtains or blinds that fully blocked the windows. Our room was dark and dingy, unlike the clean, updated room shown in the Choice Hotels booking photos. The bathroom was falling apart, the towels had rust stains, and the sheets and pillowcases were torn and had old hairs stuck to them. A light fixture by the entrance was missing, with wiring hanging out. The coffee machine barely worked, the microwave and fridge didn’t work, and most outlets were dead. There wasn’t a switch to control the room lights together, so each had to be switched on and off individually. This place badly needs renovations. I wish I’d noticed the Marriot up the road was about the same price. Even as a Choice member, I’d have stayed there instead.
