The little cabin was a really enjoyable place to stay, with great views across the street and everything in town within walking distance. If cats aren’t your thing or you’re expecting a luxury resort for
The cabins and waterfront house weren’t ready for winter guests. The cabin had no working heat at first, and it took four hours to warm up. The waterfront house had the same problem, with a broken thermostat and an indoor temperature of 42°. We had to move to that cabin. Each bed had one thin comforter. We arrived around 3:30-4 pm, but didn’t get into the cabin where we spent our one short night until 8:30. My 80-year-old dad was so stressed he got no sleep, so we left at 5 am. They gave us a $100 discount before we’d spent four hours trying to warm the room or cabin. We felt bad for Landon at the front desk. He was very new and seemed to have little or no training, but did his best to help us. I think we should have been compensated more, maybe with a free room. I’ve never asked for one before, but this was ridiculous.
The building could use some work, but the beds were exceptionally clean and comfortable, and I slept like a baby. The rooms were clean and had a homey feel. We spent the evening on the porch, where friendly travelers passed by with smiles. The atmosphere was welcoming.
There was no one in the office, and nobody answered when we tried to reach them by phone. For six people staying two days, they’d left only two towels. The rooms were tiny, with ceilings barely six feet high. Nothing felt clean: fixtures were filthy and rusting, and the bathroom fans and vents needed cleaning more than any I’ve seen. The bathroom floor was cracked and sinking. I wouldn’t call this a two-star hotel, and it barely rates one. It might do for a cheap night on the way somewhere else, but you might have just as good a time sleeping in your car or camping.
I liked the spa tub, but the rules felt way too strict. There was no ice machine, and all the businesses closed by 5 pm every day. I couldn’t find any vapes, and people were very distant and unfriendly toward visitors.
