It was loud after hours, and marijuana smoke filled the hallways and rooms. The smell was unbearable, and nobody seemed to care. The front desk staff were outside smoking when they weren’t in their rooms. They also delayed my checkout. When I asked, I was told they were too busy to handle it, that I could leave, and they’d follow up in five hours.
The room was clean, and the woman who checked me in was friendly and helpful. The couple at checkout were decent too. I stayed the evening of 9/30/23 and left the morning of 10/1/23. The location is handy, just off I-64 and not far from I-255 or I 70/55. There were broken bathroom fixtures, though, and the TV was a smart TV with no cable or satellite. The room was a little noisy, with a couple of sketchy people hanging around. There’s no pool, and what looked like renovation supplies were stored just inside a side entrance.
There’s plenty of room to move around, and the price was okay, so it might do for a one-night stop. But check everything carefully. I was tired and ready for bed and didn’t inspect the room first. The sink and tub were fine, but the floor was dirty, the pull-out sofa was disgusting, food had been left in the fridge, and water was leaking from it. The door lock didn’t work, and the bathroom door wouldn’t stay shut. Lying in bed, I felt like something was crawling on me. I wouldn’t recommend this for a family.
Update 12/28/2021: Nothing seems to have changed. People are so loud and don’t consider guests trying to rest. We used to pick this hotel because smoking was allowed, but they don’t allow it anymore, so this was our last stay. If you can do better, do better. If you can’t, God bless you. At least there aren’t bedbugs, though there are big gnats, omg. This is the sort of place you crash at and move on. During Covid, hotels should be especially thorough about cleaning with people coming and going. Our room was bearable but could’ve been better. The front desk guy was cool and didn’t fuss when we asked for face towels, since there weren’t any in the room. Still, they shouldn’t charge so much for a place with roaches and partly cleaned toilets. The best part was that there were no bedbugs. Return your key and you get a dollar back.
The hotel and staff were decent, but I barely slept because of other guests. A dog that seemed like a fake service dog barked until 1:30am, then a party started in the parking lot outside my room at 4am. I was about to lose it, but after I called, the hotel dealt with the party, thankfully. They said they couldn’t do anything about the dog because it was labeled a service dog. It clearly had no training: I watched it play by the dumpster and get yelled at by its “owner.” I’m pretty sure both problems involved the same long-term tenant. I booked just to sleep, so I hope the issue doesn’t affect other guests.
